Everything You Need to Know About Acne Care During Pregnancy

Everything To Know About Pregnancy

Pregnant women often find it stressful to even do their daily chores, because they ought to give the baby the top priority all the time. So how can they even think about their own skin-care? During pregnancy the androgen and progesterone altitudes seem to exhaust the oil glands of the woman’s skin. This might act as a boon for those ladies who had to suffer their entire life fighting acne, because the oil levels are down, thereby reducing the chances of causing acne. However, there are other women who experience a completely different situation altogether. They might be experiencing acne problems during pregnancy.

In such conditions, it must be seen that whatever treatment or medication the mother would want to undergo would not effect or harm the baby in any way at all. Hence, the intake of prescription medicines must be avoided completely, as they contain teratogenic in them, which is not ideal for the fetus.

It is better talking to an expert before using any medicine(s).

The specialist may prescribe either, Retin-A or Accutane or other antibiotics like tetracycline, during pregnancy time. Retin-A is a lotion that may be applied directly over the effected region, while Accutane or Isotretinoin is a pill that treats zits at the time of pregnancy. Antibiotics-Tetracycline is used for treating respiratory infections and acne in pregnant women. But, even though they were prepared just for the sake of pregnant women, it does not mean they could be consumed in any amount. Especially Accutane and Tetracycline, overdose of either of these may cause a miscarriage or stunted bone growth in embryo. Follow the right dose prescribed by the doctor or dermatologist. You would not want to put your baby in danger by neglecting such cautious advice by experts, would you?

Having said that, it is best if a pregnant lady sticks to natural treatment methods, rather than opting for the above discussed medication. Actually, by following some simple tips, acne could be avoided on the whole.

Firstly, clean the skin regularly to keep the skin free from the oils, or one can use oil absorbing micro fiber cloth to clean the face gently. Then make sure you don’t touch or pick the acne even if it feels itchy, as it may spread to the other parts of the body. Another important tip is that pregnant women must do some regular exercises to improve the blood flow inside the body and in turn stay healthy.

Uttermost care must be taken when consuming raw fruits and vegetables. As most of them contain artificial pesticides, herbicides and other chemical disinfectants. The pregnant woman may also switch to water based makeup kit instead of oil based ones to prevent the clogging of pores. And remember not to scrub the face at the time of pregnancy, as an alternative, use gentle soap such as Cetaphil.

I have 2 kids , a 12 year old girl and a 2 1/2 year old boy . Just came out of the hospital last week I had an eptopic and it ruptured .This was my second eptopic .The first was back in 2005 and it ruptured too . If you have had one it is possible to have a normal child birth but be very careful and keep checking any sign of abnormal pain see the doctor . The risk of having an eptopic is highest in women who have had one before . Good luck to u all .

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost a baby at 8weeks 1day in 2007. It was ectopic and the tube did rupture. The pain is excruciating. I wish you peace.

I went through same and then IVF only to end up with an emergency removal of a ruptured ectopic. We are going to start trying again next month and are scared to death. This is the hardest thing I’ve ever dealt with. Best of luck to you.
